The Business Analyst will join an expanding I.T. Team within Collingwood Business Solutions Ltd (CBSL).  They will predominantly work on IT software solutions which are written entirely in-house by a team of developers using various programming standards such as Microsoft through to lesser known off the shelf programming languages such as Windev or Webdev.

Ideally from a background within an insurance company, bank or financial services sector, you will have had experience of working on multiple projects/tasks at a time and be able to manage the expectations of the Head of IT, business management team and Directors.

You will use appropriate methods and tools to meet with stakeholders, investigate, analyse and document business/system requirements in order to achieve the requirements and contribute to the delivery of system software solution(s).

The Business Analyst will have experience of producing and executing test scripts/plans.

You will take ownership of the projects and tasks you lead or contribute to and will work directly with the Head of IT and IT Development team in ensuring project timescales are achieved and the solutions are to a high standard.

Strong organisational and communication skills are vital in this role as are being able to work to deadlines in a fast-paced company which works hard as a collective to achieve its goals.

Problem solving skills are essential to this role, as is the ability to work individually and within a team environment in order to achieve project or task objectives.

The work itself can be varied and be a mix of looking to achieve efficiencies within business areas as well as creating products and solutions that will create commercial growth. There are also projects which centre on compliance due to supporting a business that works within the financial sector.


Main Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, interpretation of and documentation of business/system requirements (IT solutions and reporting requirements)
  • Business and system process mapping (e.g. swim lane diagrams, traditional business/system process flows, modelling diagrams)
  • Documenting Test Scripts/Plans to ensure technical deliverables meet the business objectives
  • Managing, writing and executing System, User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Project Release management
  • User support and training/handover  i.e. Trainers, Operational staff
  • Post-implementation support
  • Attending regular project update meetings with Head of IT and other members of the management team / board where applicable and highlighting project milestone deviation
  • Aid in the management of the company change request process
  • Act as a point of contact for business support relating to new deliveries or older deliveries where you have been involved in the requirements
  • Translate and relay technical communication to the business via presentation in a format that the stakeholders understand it

You will report directly to the Head of IT


Experience/Skills Required:

You will have a strong background as a business analyst and able to demonstrate your involvement in medium to large projects throughout your career to date. You will need the ability to understand technical information from within the IT team and relay this to the business stakeholders/users in order that they understand it – acting as point of contact between business and IT.

Exceptional communication skills are required. Verbal and Written communication must be of the highest standard with experience of presenting, leading workshops/meetings, documenting the outcomes of those workshops and the requirements themselves to a high standard.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with limited requirements at project initiation and transform these into software solution requirements that will achieve the business objectives. The Business Analyst must have a proven ability of being able to adapt their approach depending on the stakeholders they work with.

The Business Analyst must be a self-starter who can manage their own workload and ensure best use of time where projects/tasks are at different stages. They must also be accustomed to regular communication with their Project Manager/Head of IT in order to highlight risks and issues to resource allocation, project delivery or any other typical project risks that can occur.

You will have experience of creating test plans, documenting test scripts and coordinating UAT. You will also have executed numerous testing plans and have the skills to test requirements to ensure the end user systems and processes achieve the original project/task objectives.

Educated to degree standard and/or certified in Business Analysis (e.g. ISEB), Project Management (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile PM) with a wealth of experience of System Testing / testing certification.

You will have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Word, Visio, Project and / or other related business analysis/project management tools.

The successful candidate will have advanced skills in business process modeling and analysis techniques such as production of use case models, detailed use cases and activity diagrams etc.

Experience of working in an AGILE or RAD type of environment is beneficial but not essential.

Experience with Team Foundation Server as a task and project management tool is beneficial but again, not essential.
