This Valentines Day show some love to your car! Over the winter months it can be easy to get out of the habits of cleaning your car and showing it some love because of the cold weather. We are going to go over 5 tips of ways you can look after your car and some general car maintenance tips!

Over time you can accumulate a lot of stuff in your car! From food wrappers to clothing items, you are sure to find some treasures when you start sorting through the items left behind in your car. Show your car some love by sorting out the discarded items and putting them back where they belong!

Bring a bag for rubbish and a bag for items that need to go inside so you are prepared. Check under the seats, in the glove box and door storage and in the boot. Clear out all the rubbish into a bag, put away the items that stay in the car and anything that belongs in the house take it inside. You then have a fresh start and can start some good habits of looking after your car.

It is a good idea to have a regular clear out of your car as you could be at risk of accidents or fines if your car is left messy! The Highway code states “windscreens and windows MUST be kept clean and free from obstructions to vision.“ Also loose rubbish on the floor could roll under your pedals which may lead to distraction and incidents

After the winter months your car could do with a clean! This can be done by hand, going to a car wash, or going to a hand car wash. Whichever works for you, make sure you get rid of all the built-up dirt from winter on the car and wheels.

@collingwoodinsurance Time to get your car ready for a good spring clean!🧽 If you’ve never been through the car wash it might be scary but here is all you need to know!🫧 #driving #learnerdriver #car #carwash #springcleaning #carwashtiktok #uk #learningtodrive #howto ♬ Ghibli system. This could also be a good time to give the interior a wipe down and hoover the floor and seats to get rid of crumbs and dust, especially since you will have cleared out the interior already.

There are parts of your car that need to be checked and refilled and why not check them all while you are showing your car some love!
Check your levels of:
Engine coolant
Engine Oil
Transmission fluid
Brake fluid
Windscreeen wiper fluid
And top up if needed or seek professional help to top up/change.

Check your car lights to see if any bulbs need replaced. Check the tyre tread to see if your tyres need changed. Repair any scrapes or dents if you can. Overall give your car some TLC and get it looking brand new.

It is always good to have some supplies in your car for when you are out and about. This can help if you are out on a long drive or if you break down. Having supplies on hand can make it a little less stressful. Now could be a good time for some shopping to kit out your car! Look for new air fresheners, gadgets, or organisers to help keep your car tidy.
