Who can supervise me when I practise in a parent’s car?
It’s mandatory that you always have a supervising driver and while this does not need to be a parent or guardian, they must:
-
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be qualified to drive the vehicle you’re practising in (manual or automatic)
- Have held a full UK or EU licence for at least 3 years
It doesn’t always have to be the car owner that supervises the learner, but they must meet the above criteria. Supervision is a legal requirement during every practise session as a learner driver.
